Nagoya highway bus fire accident, 2 confirmed dead, 7 injured
Around 10:15 am on the 22nd, there was a call to 110 on the outbound line of the Komaki Line of the Nagoya Expressway in Niinuma-cho, Kita Ward, Nagoya City, saying, "I can see black smoke and fire." According to the Aichi Prefectural Police Highway Squadron and others, an accident involving multiple vehicles occurred. A large bus overturned and burst into flames. The fire was extinguished, but two people were confirmed dead after suffering cardiopulmonary arrest. The two are believed to have been in a large bus.
According to Aoi Kotsu, a large bus operator based in Komaki City, Aichi Prefecture, the bus had left Sakae, Nagoya, and was headed for prefectural Nagoya Airport.
A 21-year-old man who passed by the scene immediately after the accident said, "It was hot (the bus was on fire). About 10 people evacuated and were sitting outside the car."
