Zuckerberg opened his mouth about the 'bad' avatar
Science and Technology Desk: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has responded to the ongoing 'meme' about his posted Metaverse avatar.
On August 16, Zuckerberg posted a screenshot of his digital avatar on social media, showing him standing in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
According to a report by technology site Verge, the screenshot suggests that Meta's virtual world 'Horizon Worlds' could soon be coming to France and Spain.
Unfortunately, various internet users are making memes out of the screenshots he posted. Apart from this, a Twitter user also compared the graphics of the film with the 'Teletubbies' game of 'Playstation 1'.
"Meta is working on graphics." Zuckerberg probably meant by showing all these memes.
On Friday, August 19, Zuckerberg posted a few new screenshots on his Facebook and Instagram accounts, showing his avatar looking "more lifelike" than before and featuring an ancient plaza.
"Major updates to Horizon and Avatar graphics coming soon." - said Zuckerberg. Besides, he also promised to give details about this in the upcoming 'Connect' conference.
Meta spokesman Peter Gray told The Verge the company had no word on when the conference would take place. However, last year's event was held in the month of October.
As for the original screenshot, Zuckerberg admits that it doesn't look all that impressive.
“I know the picture I posted is very crude — it was taken in haste to celebrate an unveiling.” - He said.
"However, the graphics capabilities in Horizon are greater — even in a headset."
"If my company was losing billions of dollars in the digital world and people didn't accept it, I might have stopped posting such crappy screenshots."
Meta isn't the only company luring customers into its own Metaverse by promising better graphics.
Online gaming platform 'Roblox' has announced its 'blocky' and low resolution graphics update in July.
In an interview with news site Protocol, the company's head of product, Josh Anon, said their goal is to "replicate the real world."
According to a report by Verge, while Horizon Meta's new update brings graphics similar to the 'Fortnite' game, these graphics won't make much of an impact unless something new comes to the virtual world. A Twitter user highlighted this point by comparing Fortnite with Zuckerberg's original post.
